During the commencement of Ireland’s presidency of the EU Council, Irish Ambassador Kevin Kelly highlighted that the partnership with India transcends trade, involving crucial sectors like technology, research, climate action, and maritime security. He noted that both the EU and India are enhancing their ties to tackle mutual global issues and secure long-term economic prosperity.
The negotiations for the India-EU Free Trade Agreement have concluded, and the agreement is anticipated to be signed formally by December, potentially coming into effect early next year. This agreement marks an important milestone as both parties expand their cooperation in vital areas, including defense, security, and emerging technologies, in response to evolving global economic and geopolitical landscapes.
