Moscow Reports Six Dead in Russian Attack by Ukrainian Drone

by admin477351

Ukraine has reportedly executed a significant drone assault on Russia, marking one of the most extensive attacks since the conflict began. Russian officials stated that the attack resulted in at least six casualties and ignited a substantial fire at a distribution center near Moscow. The Russian Defense Ministry reported intercepting a record 1,478 Ukrainian drones within a 24-hour timeframe, although these claims have not been independently confirmed. Moscow’s Mayor, Sergei Sobyanin, indicated that approximately 600 drones targeted the Moscow area, with reports of 201 being destroyed, and one person losing their life in the region.

A large-scale fire erupted at a Wildberries distribution warehouse located near Podolsk, roughly 25 miles from Moscow’s center. The facility, encompassing around 250,000 square meters, was heavily damaged and disabled, according to Ukraine’s military. Ukrainian forces have increasingly deployed long-range drones to strike Russian military and economic targets far from the front lines. Ukrainian officials allege that several Wildberries facilities have been targeted due to their purported use for military logistics.

The ongoing conflict underscores Ukraine’s expanding long-range strike capabilities, while Russia continues to employ drones and missiles in its attacks on Ukrainian urban areas and infrastructure. Concurrently, Russian strikes have claimed at least seven lives in Ukraine, with fatalities reported in Kryvyi Rih and the Sumy region. In Kyiv, a missile attack injured six individuals and sparked fires, notably at a major book market where several businesses reportedly suffered total losses of their stock.

In a related development, a Spanish fighter jet, part of a NATO patrol, intercepted and downed a suspected Russian drone after it breached Romanian airspace, according to NATO officials. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has accused Russia of persistently targeting civilian infrastructure, stating that more than 1,550 attack drones, nearly 1,560 guided bombs, and 62 missiles have been launched against Ukraine over the past week.

This escalation highlights the increasing use of long-range weaponry by both sides in the conflict, raising the potential for greater casualties and destruction far from the established front lines.
