On Monday, Dublin Airport celebrated the inauguration of its first direct flight to Shanghai, introducing a non-stop service that connects Ireland with China’s largest city. This new route, operated by China Eastern Airlines, marks a significant milestone as Dublin Airport’s longest-ever scheduled non-stop flight. The service will operate three times a week, utilizing the Airbus A350-900 aircraft.
The airport’s operator, daa, emphasized that this new connection to Shanghai enhances Ireland’s ties with one of the most important aviation markets globally. The introduction of this route is anticipated to promote increased travel, tourism, trade, and educational exchanges between Ireland and China, reflecting the growing relationship between the two nations.
China Eastern Airlines, headquartered in Shanghai and a member of the SkyTeam alliance, provides flights across various regions including Europe, Asia, Oceania, North America, South America, and the Middle East. With the addition of this route, Dublin Airport expands its long-haul network, offering new possibilities for passengers traveling between Ireland and China.
